Support Activities

If your school is interested in working with Catalyst on a project which is not listed below, please contact Catalyst to discuss your particular requirements.

We are also interested in learning of further expertise from within local schools as well as identifying areas where support can be provided.

If you would like to discuss school to school support opportunities please contact us.

Moving from RI to Good

Primary schools which receive an Ofsted judgement of RI can form an Education Improvement Partnership with the Catalyst Teaching Alliance. This support is led by one of Catalyst’s National Leaders in Education (NLEs) and is facilitated by a range of expertise from Specialist Leaders in Education (SLEs) and Catalyst Outreach Professionals (COPs).  The support is based on an Education Improvement Action Plan which aims to move the school to good within a prescribed timeframe and which reflects the specific needs of each school.  These may include:

  • Supporting the improvement of the quality of teaching to increase the percentage of lessons which are judged to be good or outstanding
  • Supporting specific areas of the curriculum, for example, literacy and achieving L6 in writing at the end of Key Stage 2
  • Undertaking joint analysis of data and tracking of student progress
  • Working with school leaders to improve effectiveness in particular areas.  For example, ensuring that school self-evaluation is rigorous and accurate and that judgements of teaching and learning and student progress are robust
  • Working with Governors to ensure that their leadership is effective

The Education Improvement Action Plan is regularly reviewed by an Action Group comprising the Headteacher, the NLE and the Chair of Governors.

This package has, to date, cost approximately £10,000

Moving from Good to Outstanding

This is a similar programme to that described above, but with the focus on achieving an Ofsted judgement of Outstanding.

This package has, to date, cost approximately £10,000

Individual Projects

Schools might wish to engage with school to school support in projects which focus on one or two particular areas.  Catalyst can set up projects which are tailored to the particular needs of an individual school.  These include:

  • Working with school leaders to ensure that lesson observation and other judgements on teaching  and learning are robust
  • Supporting specific areas of the curriculum, for example, literacy, numeracy or foundation subjects
  •  Undertaking joint analysis of data and tracking of student progress
  •  Working with school leaders to ensure that school self-evaluation is rigorous and accurate
  • Working with Governors to ensure that their leadership is effective
  • Establishing coaching programmes within school
  • Financial management
  • Leadership coaching

These packages have, to date, cost approximately £1,000 each.
